Promoting Educational Excellence.The Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance promotes excellence in K‐16 STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education through exemplary professional development with teachers and other educational leaders. Our strength is translating research and educational standards into effective teaching and learning practice statewide and across the nation. As the major K‐16 STEM education organization in Maine, we have provided leadership, resources, professional development, and policy support to educators since 1992. We are committed to ensuring that all students meet or exceed state and national standards.
Vision: The Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance endeavors to enhance science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education to elevate student aspirations and achievement, so all students will meet or exceed state and national standards.
Mission: The MMSA will provide and conduct research, development, and implementation strategies, and form active partnerships to support excellence in STEM curriculum, instruction, and assessment in schools and districts for educators at all stages of their careers.
Beliefs: All activities of the Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance (MMSA) are based on five core beliefs. They are:
