Center for Education Organizing

The promise of public education is at the core of our democracy. Yet in low-income and working-class neighborhoods and communities of color, the voices of students and families are too often left out of the debate over the future of public education. That is beginning to change.

The Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University (AISR) serves as a staunch ally in these efforts. AISR’s community organizing and engagement staff have assisted community efforts to improve neighborhood schools in New York City for the last fifteen years. Our research staff have conducted groundbreaking national studies documenting the field of community organizing for school reform and its impact on schools.
